Maasai Women

This piece was the very definition of a labor of love. I had been away from art for a while, struggling with insecurity. I decided to ease back in and got to the point where I wanted to challenge myself with a more complex piece. Knowing it would be difficult to overcome my insecurity and take time to draw a portrait containing several figures, I decided the subject of my piece must be one that encourages me to keep going. I decided to do a tribute to the Maasai people. I found their faces strong, willful, and hopeful. Each time I doubted myself I looked into their faces and found the will to go on. I was so proud of myself when I finished this piece, all done in ballpoint pen.
